The Potsdamer Platz location experiences a high volume of daily traffic, particularly during major events such as the Berlinale, where rapid turnover and efficient management of parking spaces are essential. Ensuring smooth, congestion-free access and exit for a high volume of visitors while maintaining an effortless experience for users unfamiliar with the facility posed a significant operational challenge.
Solution
To meet these demands, the Q-Park, together with PMS (Parking Management System) vendor SKIDATA, implemented an LPR solution from Survision. This advanced technology allows license plate recognition upon entry and exit, eliminating the need for physical tickets and even payments at the facility. By utilizing LPR, Q-Park reduces wait times, alleviates congestion, and enables hands-free access, which is particularly beneficial for short-term and event-driven parking needs.
The forward thinking and customer oriented parking experience is enabled by an license plate recognition (LPR/ANPR) system featuring 17 LPR cameras that facilitate fast and reliable reading of license plates upon entry and exit. Access to the car park is made seamless through its seven well-organized entrances, which reduce congestion and allow for smooth access even during peak moments. Exiting is equally efficient, with eight dedicated exits, ensuring a quick, hassle-free experience for motorists leaving the facility.
